Booster Seat
Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Booster Seat Research Grant,
awarded through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment,
beginning in 2000 and ending in 2003. In December
2000, a baseline observational survey was conducted in Colorado
Springs and showed booster seat use , among kids ages 4-8, at 11%
(more than twice the national average of 5%). After one year of
education, booster seat use increased to nearly 20% according to
a second observational survey. The third observation resulted in
a 39% usage rate and the fourth and
final rate ended at an astounding 47%.
